This Bergen County Momma of two, just celebrated the 5 year anniversary of opening her own shop Market House Shop Local in Westwood. This unique and adorable shop is one of our absolute favorites because it contains incredible products and gifts from local artists and vendors. It is a small business that TRULY supports our community and all it has to offer.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Bergen County?
Hi!! I’ve lived in Bergen county my whole life, so 29 years. I’m originally from Demarest and moved to Oradell 4 years ago.
Do you have Child(ren)? What are their Age(s)?
I have two children Richard and Reagan. Richard is two and a half, Reagan is one and a half. They are exactly one year and two weeks apart!
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
Hmmm. While others consider the day they got married, or the day they had their first child the best moment of their life, my best moment was my first mission trip to Dominican Republic in college. It is to this day my most rewarding and life changing moment of my life.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My mom! She is a true rockstar, helping me every moment she can. But besides that, she has taught my kids so many cool things. They are super observant to nature and everything around them, and that is ALL my mom.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
I love all things local! We love Abma’s Farm to check out the animals and have lunch. We go to Van Saun weekly for the zoo and train. My most favorite is hiking the Alpine Lookout with them. We’ve found the perfect “small” hike to do.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Yes! I own Market House in Westwood. It’s a gift shop featuring over 200 local artists, everything handcrafted! It is my first baby right after college, and I’ve been open since 2014.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I’ve met so many moms running small businesses while having kids, it’ all about the support. We are ALL in this together.
Favorite Date Night spot in Bergen County?
Oh! There are so many good spots. I really love Pearl Restaurant in Ridgewood. The food is great Italian, and it’s a beautiful space. You really can’t go wrong with downtown Ridgewood.
Favorite Girls Night spot in Bergen County?
I really love Mezza in Westwood, it is my go to dinner spot with friends. It’s good for a quick lunch or a nice dinner. Love the dessert.
